On Saturday, April 6 it was a night to celebrate 60 years of Boys & Girls Clubs in Southern Nevada at the 7th Annual Sneaker Ball presented by Credit One Bank and Marnell Gaming, at the M Resort Spa Casino.  Guests were treated to the full Boys & Girls Club experience while flashing their stylish sneakers and raising funds to support the youth enrichment programs for the more than 10,000 youth served annually through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV).

With 600 guests in attendance, the Milan ballroom transformed into a virtual Boys & Girls Club which included giant membership cards for guests, an interactive pep assembly, cheerleaders, high-energy music, video games and more.  The evening began with a cocktail reception and an opportunity for guests to bid on silent auction items such as travel packages, entertainment experiences, artwork and collectables.

Expertly prepared by the M Resort culinary team, guests were treated to delicious hand-passed appetizers and a multi-course dinner with a twist on “kid favorites” such as Pigs In a Blanket – caraway baked kolache, beef frankfurter, wrapped in croissant dough and jalapeño mustard dipping sauce; Tots! – potatoes with white cheddar cheese, chives and house-made ketchup; Steakhouse PB&J – charcoal grilled petite filet of beef, sweet potato puree, blistered black grape jam, toasted chili almond butter and tempura portabella fries; How ‘Bout S’More? – Bailey’s Irish Cream mousse, salted caramel mousse, toasted Swiss marshmallow meringue with petite s’mores marcons with wine and cocktails provided by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.

Throughout the evening elements of the Boys & Girls Club experience were highlighted with personal impact stories from Club staff and members, which included a special video “Boys & Girls Clubs is a place to become…”  and the three priority outcomes for positive youth development - Academic Success, Character & Leadership and Healthy Lifestyles.

The event featured a special musical performance from the Positively Arts Choir accompanied by kids from the Boulder Highway Clubhouse.  In addition, education advocate and U.S. Rep., Susie Lee addressed the crowd, expressing her gratitude to the Clubs, and congratulating them on 60 years of service in Southern Nevada.

Conducted by California Coast Auctioneer, Zack Krone, this year’s live auction brought a lot of excitement as bidding wars took place over unique packages.  Featured experiences included Vegas Golden Knight and National Finals Rodeo; as well as dinners prepared by Chef Scott Pajak and firefighters from North Las Vegas and Henderson.  An exclusive trip to Napa Valley featuring a private estate wine tasting at the Quintessa Winery with attendance to the Oakland Raiders training camp was a popular item amongst the guests.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada provides a safe and positive environment for kids to learn, have fun and develop supportive relationships.
