Last year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada was honored to receive a $50,000 grant from Lowe’s to do some much-needed renovations to the James Clubhouse located in North Las Vegas.

For many years, the outdoor space at the James Clubhouse was not only underutilized for many reasons including it not being a safe environment for kids to play.  The space it had an old burned out playground that was vandalized and too dangerous to be around and the grass area was severely damaged as well.

Renovations began last summer and have continued through this year.  The grant provided expanded space for more outdoor activities, including two soccer/football fields – two popular activities amongst members.   It increased participation by members and membership with the added amenities. The grant is part of Renovation Across the Nation, a program between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Lowe’s that provides one Club in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. with a grant and volunteer support from Lowe’s to complete much-needed improvements and renovations.

The James Club was selected as the signature Club in the state of Nevada in 2018. As the need to update facilities increases and maintenance costs rise, Lowe’s support will help the Club make critical improvements to ensure the Club remains a safe and inviting place for youth who need it most.

We are excited to use the space to its full potential and do an official ribbon cutting at the end of May.
