Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) announced that it has received a $150,000 grant from Boyd Gaming Corporation to advance distance learning support and all-day youth services across the Las Vegas Valley.
LAS VEGAS, Oct. 28, 2020 – Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) announced that it has received a $150,000 grant from Boyd Gaming Corporation to advance distance learning support and all-day youth services across the Las Vegas Valley. These programs are vital for parents who are unable to stay home during school hours as the Clark County School District (CCSD) continues to deliver education virtually to more than 300,000 southern Nevada students.
“When CCSD made the decision to close its brick-and-mortar facilities and transition students to full-time online learning for the 2020-21 school year, the need for all-day youth services became urgent for families with working parents,” said BGCSNV President & CEO Andy Bischel. “Thanks to support from our longtime partner Boyd Gaming, BGCSNV is able to continue providing hands-on distance learning help, afterschool enrichment activities, as well as a safe and supportive learning environment for students ages 6-18 at all 13 of our Clubhouses.”
In 1959, Boyd Gaming Co-Founder Sam Boyd helped introduce Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) to the Southern Nevada community. Since that time, the nonprofit has continued to help young people reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. Every dollar donated to BGCSNV allows the nonprofit to provide $11.86 in economic benefits to the families and communities it serves.
“Boyd Gaming’s partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada continues to thrive after more than six decades because of our joint commitment to our neighbors across this community,” said Steve Thompson, Executive Vice President of Operations for Boyd Gaming. “Our hardworking team members are the reason Boyd Gaming is able to support crucial organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs, working to ensure children across the Valley are able to continue learning and growing academically during these challenging times.”
